Canopic Publishing NEWS

(March 12, 2008) Leatherneck Sea Stories: Recollections of Marines, Korea, and the Corps of the 1950s continues to gather steam. Various sites focusing on military books have picked up on Sgt. Easton (Ret.)'s fine little book, but the non-military buffs have been singing hi-praise as well. And as with last year's Bothering the Coffee Drinkers, Leatherneck Sea Stories has been nominated for a prestigious "Ippy" award. The results are still a few months away, but in the meantime you might enjoy reading Robert Gentry's fine review at Writecorner Press.
(October 5, 2007) First, and we've been sitting on this news for a few lazy months, Bothering the Coffee Drinkers by Doug Hoekstra received a Bronze Medal in the Short Fiction category at the 2007 IPPY Awards. Doug's splendid little book thus joins Mary Sue Koeppel's Between the Bones (recipient of the 2006 Royal Palm Literary Award for published poetry) as Canopic books for which the phrase "award winning" is not mere hyperbole.
Second, Leatherneck Sea Stories: Recollections of Marines, Korea, and the Corps of the 1950s by Dave Easton is now available for purchase. We're all very proud of this book, and the accolades are already rolling in. No one deserves a handshake and a slap on the back more than Dave Easton--a humble (well OK, humble for a man who wrote a book about it) man of great integrity who personifies the ideals of friendship and camaraderie of which he writes so eloquently in Leatherneck Sea Stories. As the old pitch goes, "buy one today." Come to think of it, buy two!
